China is pushing closer towards creating a cashless future. Last week, Shenzhen carried out a lottery to give away 10 million yuan worth of digital currency. Shenzhen is one of the four cities where digital renminbi is being piloted. People’s Bank of China plans to have the currency in use in time for the Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing in 2022.
